FREE Womens March Pussy Hat Pattern!

Good Saturday Morning! This morning I am bringing you MY version of the “Pussy Hat” pattern. It is a beginner crochet pattern and I am very excited to be able to share it with you! This pattern can also be used to make cat ear hats in other colors as well and with a few adjustments can also be made in quite a few different sizes. I will be focusing on an adult women’s’ one size fits all, but I will give you options to make the hat a little smaller or larger as we go!

You will need:

Pattern:

  • If you are more of an intermediate crocheter, you can try starting with a foundation row of 36 and joining the foundation row creating a 37th stitch to join. Check out the links if you are interested in learning these two techniques, if not, no worries!
  • If you are a total beginner, you will start by chaining 37 and joining in the round.
  • If you chained 37 or if you decided to join with a foundation row you are now at the same point in the pattern! from here you will repeat the following 8 times (repeat it 9 times if you feel like your head is a little bigger!) *ch 2, dc in each st around, join*
  • finish off your work and cut the yarn leaving a long tail. You will have now have a “tube”. Turn your work inside out and use the long tail to sew together the top of the tube using a mattress stitch.
  • Once you have sewn the top of the tube together you can tie off the tail, make a knot and then weave in/knot off the other tail from the start of the chain. Turn your work back right side out and you should now have what looks like a square with one side sewn together! Put the hat on and the ears will naturally pop up! So Easy!!!!

I will be adding photos of my process soon so that you can have photos to follow instead of just a pattern (I know I am not the world’s best pattern writer) but please feel free to comment below if you have questions!
